Praesepe donates £100,000 to CHIPS

Milton Keynes-based gaming company Praesepe presented CHIPS charity with a cheque worth £100,000 at the ExCel London ICE event on the 6th February – a cheque that takes the total amount raised for CHIPS by Praesepe to £1.1 million.

CHIPS was founded by the casino and gaming industry, and provides specialised powered wheelchairs for young people with severe mobility problems, and Praesepe is one of its main fundraisers, having raised £1.1 million and provided 170 custom built wheelchairs to children up and down the country since it began working with the charity in 2005.

Mark Schertle, Chief Operating Officer for Praesepe said: “We’re very proud to have worked with CHIPS for a number of years. To have raised a further £100,000 for the cause just shows what a fantastic combination of generous support from various suppliers, customers, employees, family and friends can achieve. It’s a truly worthy cause.”

Linda Lindsay, co-founder of CHIPS charity, added: “We are very grateful to everyone who supports us, as the money is going to a great cause, which does so much for children whose lives are unimaginably hindered by medical conditions. Thanks to Praesepe’s generosity we are able to help yet more young people change their lives.”

Every penny from the latest donation will go towards providing powered wheelchairs for children who would otherwise have no way of getting around on their own. Each powered wheelchair for a child can cost as much as £6,500, and all are custom-made to meet each youngster’s specific needs.

In total CHIPS has raised more than £2.2 million to date and presented over 520 wheelchairs to children throughout the UK.
