Local man scoops national prize at bingo hall

Redcar local, Lee Dunbar certainly had beginners luck on his side when he managed to scoop the full house National Bingo Game prize worth a grand total of £11,486.20, at Beacon Bingo in Redcar.

Collecting his prize at the Beacon Bingo hall on Friday (9th November), staff presented him with a cheque, winner Lee said: “It was amazing to win the national game and a complete shock! It was the first time I’d visited the bingo hall, and within three minutes of the game starting I’d won!”

“The atmosphere in the venue was fantastic, a lot of the other players were coming to congratulate me, it’s really like one big family. I’ll definitely be returning to Beacon Bingo Redcar in the future! I think I’m going to split the money with my sister, then buy myself something nice with my half.”

The National Bingo Game is a multiple game of bingo operated by the National Bingo Association that has been running since 1986. It is played twice daily (except Christmas Day) with approximately 260 clubs participating in the afternoon game and 300 clubs in the evening. The biggest prize ever won on a national game was an eye-watering £1.3million pound in 2008.

Rocky Richmond, general manager at Beacon Bingo in Redcar said: “We were all absolutely ecstatic for Lee! To win a prize in a national game, which is played by such a huge number of other clubs, is very special for us. It was a really great moment.”
