To mark the outstanding achievements going on internally within the company we wanted to highlight the work of Dawd, who is an excellent example of how hard work and commitment can propel you into a rewarding career at MERKUR Casino UK. Hear from Dawd as he shares his experience and time at MERKUR Casino UK.

How long have you been with the company?

I joined the company in April 2017, so that makes it 5 years now. It has gone so quickly!

Talk us through your journey with the company?

My journey to where I am now, originally started by working for a competitor! I was a Venue Manager for over 7 years, and I was not making any progress in my personal development or career. I made the decision to join MERKUR Casino UK in 2017 as a Venue Manager in Watford and never looked back since. I moved to two other great venues in Wembley and Greenford that exposed me to new challenges and widened my experience. In September 2021, I was promoted to a cluster manager being responsible for several venues in an area. Then in February 2022 I was promoted to an Area Manager.

Do you have any advice for new starters joining the company?

MERKUR Casino UK is the right place to be for personal development, especially with the expansion programme underway. There are plenty of opportunities to progress and you will get 100% support and training to make this happen.

What does your typical day look like?

There is no typical day for me as every day is always from the last! You cannot get bored! I try to set myself a handful of goals daily which I can work towards. I will also spend time in meetings with my team and working on problem solving and ways to drive the business forward. In general, I find it both interesting and enjoyable.

What is your favourite part about working for MERKUR Casino UK?

The people I work with. Both in head office and in the field. I have built some great relationships with the team.

How did you develop into your current position?

I completed the 12 weeks training plan for the Cluster Manager position. It was a huge game changer. Especially the masterclass from HR and all the coaching from our learning and development team. All of which has helped me greatly.

Tell us something about yourself that people might not know.

I am not a big fan of flying.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love singing, I used to be part of a band!
