MERKUR Makes Donation to Bradley Lowery Foundation
To celebrate the opening of its new Sunderland venue, MERKUR Slots has donated £1,000 to the Bradley Lowery Foundation.
The charity was established in 2017 after six-year-old Sunderland AFC fan Bradley Lowery, lost his fight against Stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. The charity aims to support people of all ages with illnesses and conditions to raise essential funds towards treatment and equipment not yet available on the NHS.
In addition, the Foundation offers practical and emotional support and guidance, that includes liaising with hospitals and arranging travel, such as flights and transfers.
Lynn Murphy, co-founder of the Foundation, said: A donation like this really does mean the world to us. We work hard to keep Bradley’s name and legacy alive. Most recently we have opened Super Brads Pad, a £600,000 holiday home with five double bedrooms, so entire families can have space to make special memories.”
The MERKUR Initiative aims to support local charities and fundraising initiatives within the areas they operate. Local teams are asked to nominate local organisations they feel strongly about supporting.
Alan Bristow, venue manager at the MERKUR Slots branch on 251 High Street West in Sunderland, said: “There’s not a football fan in the country who was not touched by the iconic images of Bradley with Jermain Defoe. He created huge awareness for Neuroblastoma and cancer as a whole. We are delighted to support his Foundation and the important legacy of an amazing little boy.”
