£12k Days of Christmas

Three charities have benefited from a Christmas donation worth £12,000 from MERKUR Casino this December.  Action for Children, Willen Hospice and FareShare have all received donations from the gaming company, thanks to the kind donations of its customers.

Action for Children has received gifts for over 220 vulnerable children, representing the number of MERKUR venues. Willen Hospice patient and nursing teams will enjoy Christmas Day and Boxing Day meals and recognising the cost-of-living crisis impact, MERKUR will work with FareShare to help feed 2,100 families of four over the festive period, representing a donation for every employee.

Mark Schertle from MERKUR said: “We are delighted to support these organisations.  Having spoken to our teams we have tried to work with charities that mean a lot to the people that work here, along with knowing that our donations will make an immediate difference.”

Action for Children has helped and protected children across the UK for over 150 years to provide a safe and happy childhood for every child.  Mark said: “By becoming a Secret Santa, we’re hoping to put a bit  of magic back into Christmas for children who may otherwise not receive any gifts at all.”

FareShare redistributes surplus food (that would otherwise go to waste) via its 32 warehouses to charities across the UK to help tackle hunger and food poverty. With 1 in 10 of the UK’s population struggling to afford to eat, MERKUR’s donation will support 2,100 families.

Local to MERKUR’s Milton Keynes head office is Willen Hospice, who care for end-of-life patients and their families, to help people make the most of the time with their loved ones.

MERKUR Initiative aims to identify organisations that can frequently go unnoticed but quietly get on doing outstanding work in their local community.
